Lose all respect for groups or organisations using AI generated imagery. The lack of imagination, the devaluing of art and photography, the corner-cutting and cheapness of it. Would rather have photos of coddle stapled to my eyeballs.

Walked past this ad on a bin in Kilkenny. Stopped and said, no did I see that right? Walked back to look again. I don't know if AI, but it is a pathetic advertisement for a famine experience. More like an ad for a clothing brand instead of famished, scurvy suffering children of The Great Hunger.
honestly I use them for quick good morning/good nights. my art days are long gone, my sister/daughter and my nephew the main artists in my family now. I still play around with photography and I use procreate on my iPad but I leave the real stuff to my daughter/nephew.
Well now I'm no fan of the amount of energy it uses for what is mostly meaningless slop and the silly hype around it buuuut devils advocate... it can empower people in some interesting ways. For example, someone making a project that requires some incidental fluff text or illustrations where art
isn't the main goal of the project. Replacing artists with AI is never going to happen IMO. It's the same thinking as when photography was invented. We still have painters. If someone uses it to augment their process but not straight up replace it I wouldn't immediately write them off.
Well you're saying that as an artist so I can certainly understand the hostility. I do tech support and it's sure as shit coming for my job. The only genuinely worthy uses for AI that I can think of are in accessibility and medical diagnosis/research. The rest is mostly nonsense.
There are great potential applications, the ones I'm concerned about are those that devalue the things I love. But would love to see more focus and investment in the areas that will actually help people.
They are all so ugly. Itβs like American candy instead of a nutritious meal. Any half visual-led person feels sick to see them. All smoothed out and weird!
It's interesting the way our brains can detect AI, sometimes on a more subconscious level. Some of the errors aren't always obvious but when our reptile brain detects them it sends us messages to make us feel creeped out.
It is becoming very hard to contain though, even within businesses or organisations. Someone innocently pipes up with an "Here's a graphic/document I made with AI!" and they're genuinely delighted with themselves, and it's really tricky to push back on. (Devaluing creativity was prebaked before AI.)
I don't think it is containable. It's just up to ourselves if we engage with it. For me, it's instant loss of interest if I see a company or organisation using it. Signals a lack of effort or care on their part, which I can only assume bleeds into other areas.
The threat to creativity is alarming and it is difficult to see it driving innovation in any field. It is only as good as what is known. If we become reliant on AI we risk losing out on the learning and development that lies in the interstice of thought and action.
