I just don't want us to confuse legit discussion and criticism of the song with
a. blanket "ugh it sucks" statements or

That's true, and obv that's why I welcome hearing your thoughts in full and will totally respect them.

The song structure is the gimmick here, and I can see how it is marmite, but that is sticking out on the night.

And that's one thing I really like about this song - it's not "safe" in a way the BBC would have done in the past, so people will have stronger opinions about it. I am a little worried that the structure makes it harder for any part to stick in the head past first listen.

As a package, it certainly has potential. The song title and its repetitive nature stick in my teeth, though I was easily able to recall how that goes after the first listen. My worry is that it’s too performance-reliant (the BBC is hit and miss on staging) though RM can sing and act very well.

My 6yr old was singing the chorus after one listen. ONE LISTEN.

Just gave it another spin, can identify at least 2 bits that would stick out in the voting montage.

The Beeb must believe in their live chops after the last 2 years to be this bold. EXCITING.
