This just reminds me of the red carpet thing. Women get dragged for wearing anything a bit too out there, but of course the men are in identical black suits!

This also translates to most aspects of a woman's life unfortunately. On stage it just seems exaggerated to fit the current mould of pop culture and expectations of women artists. Also, women are just more badass in general compared to their weaker sex counterparts. 😁

I had very similar thoughts during Sanremo this year - a line-up full of hard-working women giving very polished and elaborate performances. And in the end not a single one of them made it to the super final where we instead had five men giving overall pretty relaxed performances.

Thank you! I think in Sanremo this year, we also had the problem of "real music" where, after the Amadeus years, we had some artists who were less pop-orientated on stage bringing emotional songs that were viewed as "higher status" than women's emotional songs with a dance beat

And also the cultural problem (not only in Italy, God knows) that men's artistic expressions are automatically valued higher than those of women. When a woman jumps through hoops, she's doing what is expected. When a man shows a sliver of emotion, that's remarkable.

But it's also expectations - women are emotional and get called hysterical; men are emotional and get called brave for showing their emotions.

(Everyone should be able to have and express emotions except me because I would like to be a robot)
