I find in these stories that try to portray some of the struggles bisexual people may find themselves in are mocked by queer people, which may contribute to the shame bisexuals feel from both ends of the spectrum. Their struggles are dismissed as they aren't "queer" enough to fit other's biases.

Every time I see this sort of behaviour, I always go back to posts I saw from you writing about it on social media, and after I did that research for an article I wrote, it's always been on my mind. And I'll call it out. I see it, and it frustrates me, because it's a very valid thing that happens and emits in dialogues from those who are not bisexual and only have their own interests at heart. Just because a bisexual person chooses a single partner does not stop attraction to others.

I remember writing an essay about my bisexuality for a queer journalistic website here in Finland. And the title was like "I'm not straight even if I like men". And someone immediately comments like "another woman who likes men pretending that they are oppressed because of it..."

Your bisexuality makes you just as valid on the queer spectrum as the rest of us, even if your chosen relationship presents you as in a visually hetero relationship. You shouldn't need a badge to display it. Instead, you should be acknowledged, accepted, and respected.

I just feel there's a level of ignorance that I witness in the areas of the queer community that has a hidden scale of how visually queer you need to be to be truly acknowledged as queer. Visual same-sex coupling is no longer the staple or default to being queer.

I'm sorry that person treated you that way, and it's those type of comments I see in various queer spaces these days that downplay an individual for not being queer enough for simply not presenting outwardly in a visual manner the person would like to see to justify it's queerness factor.

I encourage anyone engaging or interacting with media with queer elements to look at the bigger picture. They might not end the way you want, and it may be as outrageously queer-presenting as you want it to be, but it isn't any less real for those queer people it may relate to, and that's okay.

All media, tells various stories from different worldviews and realities of people's lives. I think we need to try and refrain from judging the story based on our personal views and understand what it's trying to share with us, even when it's not sunshine and rainbows.
