I've said it before, but BG3 would have benefited a lot from railroading you to a long rest as soon as possible & having the Dream Visitor show up immediately. That changes the tadpoles from a ticking time bomb to a sword of Damocles, and also makes sure players know they can long rest - ThreadSky

I went way too long in the game without Long Resting because I figured that there was a cost to it due to the tadpole situation.

In the original concept of the plot, the Dream Visitor _was_ the tadpole, trying to seduce you into accepting ceremorphosis; the force keeping you from transforming was a different, opposed one. The dream coming later in the story makes sense for that plotline, but not the current one

I also think that the game should have leaned a lot harder on the incongruence between the Dream Visitor saying "I'm protecting you from the tadpoles, I'm here to help you" and also "don't bother trying to get the tadpoles removed, actually you should slam more of them in your noggin"
