This is, I think, an underappreciated cause in the mainstreaming of transphobic bigotry, particularly in the UK. A handful of 'the right sort of people' got radicalized by gender critical propaganda and their erstwhile sensible colleagues shrugged off suspicions that they'd gone nuts.

But, with trans rights, you are faced with people in the GC movement that you either still respect, or once respected, and it suddenly becomes a lot harder to say that bigotry is bigotry about those people.

Freedman, Joyce, and Rowling are the archetypes here, for sure.
It's groupthink combined with a reflexive deference to the aesthetics of good manners. And trans people are suffering for it.
I've witnessed members being radicalised into racism, transphobia, islamophobia, homophobia, and antisemitism
Any tips on fighting it in the party?
Progressives need to be more vocal in their opposition to the bigoted and abusive behaviour of fellow members
For example in the case of any special interest GPEW group that actively supports a group that campaigns to repeal legal protections for Trans+ people
Any tips for fighting racism, sexism, and ableism? I'm less knowledgeable on those.
