Feel sorry for Luke Shaw. He's not trying to get injured all the time. But United cannot plan on him... and it's now 18 months since a left-back was reliably fit. Bonkers for any club let alone one with United's ambitions.

His actions in the summer told you where his priorities were. He’s a backup CB now, needs to be treat like one (he’ll never play wing/left back for United again)
I don't buy this narrative that he somehow prioritised England. He only just got fit for the final after a hamstring injury and then got a calf injury training with United.
He went. Told you his head was prioritising England than a good rest and pre season. Luckily he’s about 7th in importance list for defenders at the club now. He’ll never be trusted to play wing/full back at United and he’s very much a backup now.
Look I can't really be bothered to argue about this. If you wanna think that somehow training to get fit with England vs training to get fit with United would make a difference good for you.
There is no argument, he couldn’t train or kick a ball for United (again) for 5 months, but turned up for England knowing that. He put himself over his club and team mates. He lasted two days in pre season, hardly a shock with no rest and forcing himself to play. Luckily he’s not a priority for us
Like Amorim said, they are “big boys” and can make their own choices, but standards need to be set internally by the club and leadership, and that’s where the responsibility ultimately lies. Players want to play, no matter what. This is the just an accumulation of years of mishandling by the club.
I don’t blame Shaw at all but you’re right the club has to plan for what are fairly obvious problems to foresee. The talk of blowing 100mil on a forward is madness considering our finances and where we really need the backup
