continuing to pedantically fight the losing battle of reminding people that the immaculate conception was not about Jesus being born from a virgin but about Mary being born without sin

If what you say is true then why does the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception have a giant mosaic of a roid-rage Jesus behind the altar and not a depiction of an absolutely shredded Mary?
The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception means that Mary did not inherit original sin.
Catholics (and Eastern Orthodox) Christians also believe that Mary never sinned in her life, but that is a separate belief from the Immaculate Conception.
Eastern Orthodox Christians do not believe in the Immaculate Conception because they do not believe in a Western (Augustinian) understanding of Original Sin.
my understanding is that it means she was conceived without original sin. I then would think that means she therefore cannot sin, but I'm not knowledgeable enough in Catholic theology to say for sure. we protestants don't really spend a lot of time on Mary :/

Adam & Eve were also lacking in org. sin, but that didn't stop them.
She's Eve 2.0, Jesus is Adam 2.0
