holding off on my other Edward Yang watches until I watch more of Hou Hsiao-Hsien’s stuff, watched Flowers of Shanghai (1998) today. pretty good movie! a drama piece involving the “flower girls” of 1880s Shanghai and the positions they’re put in by their job, callers, aunties, etc. https://boxd.it/8RMF8R
