Not sure some are getting the sarcasm.
Just in case, Caitlin is calling out that everybody is celebrating Assad's overthrow as if the 'rebels' are a unparalleled force for good.
Example: The gay men of Syria are terrified right now (and are taking to Reddit etc to tell what is happening). New govt will almost certainly murder them.
It's pretty heartbreaking.
Assad had to go. His replacement are just a different flavour of bad.
I read it (alongside all her recent output) as her being both an apologist for Assad (which is gross and seems to be based on flimsy knowledge) AND attacking the incoming government because they are founded upon an oppressive ideological version of Islam.
The latter seems accurate.
woke really does spoil the lust for blood doesnt it? gosh, cant have anything these days without gender this, pronouns that, what about the good old days where men were men and women were silent?! *something something woke ruins everything*
This made me laugh too hard (my ribcage is very sore due to coughing from a cold). This is so absurd it's hard to believe this is real. There are so many inadvertent Onion headlines out there now.
Maybe we could say everything we LIKE is woke. E.g., I like a clean gas station restroom. I could go around saying 'that Shell station on Broadway has the WOKEST bathroom! Sparkling clean with soap in all the dispensers!'
I'm confused because I've always been told that woke militaries that use pronouns can't fight. So, how could woke pronoun using al-qaeda have overthrown the alpha male Assad regime?
Caitlin knows that when a decades-old Iran and Hezbollah-supported dictator fights a 13-year civil war with Al-Qaeda affiliated Sunni militants, there's obviously going to be only one winner: wokeness.
ohhh right this is the same person who decided to post here about how anti-Semitism doesn't exist and got trounced for it, seems to be a pro bullshit machine
Imagining a “Woke Al-Queda” that is just a nominally Islamic republican regime and I have to say it would be a massively positive development for the world.
In a way, maybe they were. We could probably say that wahhabism is a type of conservatism? The reaction to other people's freedom and the atavistic desire to return to a purer past is very similar. And like the conservatives in the US, they got very radical to make it happen.
Honestly, if you told a younger me from 20 or so years ago that all of this insanity would play out, I feel like I'd have looked at the present me thinking he was taking crazy pills or something like that.
Sure, but I mean people complaining about putting al-Qaeda on the news not because they're terrorists, but because they're "woke" and have "pronouns" on them. I swear, I feel like we lost the plot entirely somewhere along the way during the 2010's decade. I'm just not sure where exactly we did so...
This is a correct instinct. She does have one redeeming feature, tho - if you're interacting with someone and you see that they follow/repost her unironically, it's a quick bellweather to know you're talking to a dipshit.
They're also making all the letters in al qaeda stand for different genders and orientations. They've gone woke to a level that frankly we've never seen
They're campist. HTS fought against Assad and Russia so they're enemies. It's that simple. Same reason they're wierdly trying to pain Erdogan as pro-Israel who is well very much not.
a lot of people want to talk about the assad regime using chemical weapons, no one wants to talk about HTS using biological weapons (the woke mind virus)

Time to muck up the signal.

I'd also argue anyone using the term woke pejoratively needs to 1. define woke, 2. explain how it applies, and 3. why that is bad.
America has had 3 tragedies that could have brought us together: 9/11, 2008 financial crisis, and Covid. Each divided us more than we were before.
Like "hey can I get these nachos al qaeda?"
