I don’t know anything from a computing standpoint but I’ve worked in patchwork systems linking legacy, home brew, & newer enterprise systems. They’re beasts requiring manual interventions. They can seem seamless to users until they fail. Then everything shuts down. Ditto Treasury. Seat belts 24/7.

The most experience I have with stuff like this is mostly related to backups. If hard drives/tapes/etc aren't changed, things might stop backing up

I was in pharma manufacturing, generics. Each company was unique but they were each vulnerable. Some it seemed to me to be breakdowns in the code variations between generations of tech. I’m not a tech! Just my observations as an impatient user w deadlines & data demands. Updates were nail biters.

Musk corrected himself today in saying that the current system is an older legacy service. Verizon said the system they have been working on with the FAA is ready to go operational. Once again, Elon is talking out of his hind end and jumping to inaccurate conclusions.
