Happy Constitution Day! I had a lovely encounter with a HS history teacher the other day, which began when he came up and said, "Has anybody ever told you, you look a lot like Peter Sagal?" I had to tell him the truth: no, because, well, I am.

They crafted a constitutional republic that enfranchised white male landowners, many of whom were slaveholders: they purposely excluded “common people”, whom they deathly feared, from power.
