The "boring" stuff? This is how the game was built, essentially. Concepts for the "splats"; textural painted blots that could be combined to create endless, seamless scenes.

Anyway, if you haven't played A Highland Song before I highly recommend it. I genuinely think it's one of the best looking 2D games ever and one of the best examples of painterly art in a game.

It's also just a very good videogame - it's Scottish Breath of the Wild, and wonderfully challenging.

One more quick example - I love doing animated concepts (my background is in traditional animation). It can be super helpful for expressing the intent of the art direction for a project...
