He didn’t choose this seat. And since it was at a funeral, I would expect everyone present to put aside political differences and be polite, gracious, and as classy as Barack Obama, in honor of the deceased who spent his life serving America and was devoted to making the world a better place.

You’re right that respect can take different forms. My point wasn’t to excuse anyone’s past behavior — just to say that, in a moment of mourning, I believe we all have a responsibility to rise above politics and honor the person who passed. That’s all I meant.

I'm not sure that there was any "respect" shown...in any form by Trump...certainly none that I witnessed. But...I agree with your point, yet still stand by my original one too.
