Or... They thought they would like to follow you, and then reconsidered. Or they would like to read your original posts, but not your reposts, and Bluesky has no way to filter out reposts on a profile level. Not everyone is trying to game the system.

Yes, I always assume the best intentions, but this hasn't been the case. Also I post original content, rarely reposts. And I'm returning to social media after a years-long voluntary exile, so it's a bit disappointing. But you're a real one, Caryn; thank you for your comments :-)

They're harvesting followers. If they follow you and you follow them back and later unfollow you. On Twitter, they called it harvesting followers.
