YUP. The FIA and Red Bull brushed it under the carpet as quickly as they could because, you know, he’s Max.

Quite astonishing, really, the contrasting ways that Red Bull dealt with him and Helmut Marko (re: Perez), and how they handled Juri Vips.

It's a slur I hear more often here in the Netherlands, especially among Tajik Afghanis. There is some history behind that, but it does not make it right.

Verstapen should mind his words and apologise.

There’s a LOT of history behind the use of the “N-word” in the US, and yet we’re at the time when we KNOW that’s not a word to use in any context.

There’s no justification for this sort of behaviour : not societal norms, nor intent… nothing can explain away the fact that he used a racist term.

Not nice what he said, but certainly not a racist comment. He used a Dutch swear name wrongly translated to English. The Dutch word 'mongool' used in this context has nothing to do with Mongolian people, but refers to retarded people. You can be right, but I am pretty sure he is not aware of the history of John Langdon Down, nor are all other Dutch youngsters that use this word in a totally different context and meaning. I don’t know a word of Dutch, and yet it’s patently clear to me that the term stems from a derogatory view of East-Asian people.

The fact that Dutch youngsters use it that freely is a failure of adults to teach them to respect other cultures and ignore colonial stereotypes.
