Unfortunately they are cooking but sometimes dinner is late. So typical crew, window to win is 3-4 years but crew… maybe 1 year. CCL is the goal and gone, supporters shield vs. Miami is the goal and both gone. Early outs of everything is not the goal and that’s from front office. Failure

We know that was the speculation and makes sense, though to our knowledge was never confirmed by the club.

Still doesn’t make sense why they’d include the slot in the 1st place if they needed it. Make another deal

They didn't know Cucho was going to be gone at the time they made the SD trade. They went into the draft with the information they had at the time. Many events have occurred since then that impact the roster strategy. That doesn't mean the SD deal was bad.

You’re right. It means the Cucho deal was very bad — not the idea of selling him in the abstract, but the deal they took and when they took it.

Because it doesn’t make sense if it was actually part of a plan.

Another explanation would be that Issa included an asset he didn’t think they need (maybe along a/ an expansion draft handshake), and now needs it again and Colorado effectively used leverage to get a draft pick out of it too

The San Diego deal was to not have someone taken in the expansion draft. That was made clear at the time.

That was speculated at the time, but for the sake of argument we’ll assume Tommy Scoops was right.

We’re not saying the San Diego deal was bad. We’re saying today’s trade is another negative consequence of selling our best player 3 weeks before the season starts with no succession plan in place
