The condition of "homelessness" is often circumstantial as is demonstrated by the trial & control groups here, but what is clearly shown, and should be a core function of government in nearly every walk of life, is providing citizens with a baseline of dignity from which to inspire self-care. #PNW

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.
They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.
The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.
