Letting so many pre-MAGA American redneck asshats in during the 70's oil boom allowed the disease to spread to Canadians at epidemic rates. MAGA didn't exist then, but a lot of the same attitudes toward women, people of colour, the Almighty dollar, American Manifest Destiny, etc., did.
