7. Last year, HEALTH released a cover of Deftones' "Be Quiet and Drive" as a single... and it is an excellent version. I feel like HEALTH are a new wave of industrial metal, blending old NIN and Ministry heaviness with fresh EDM, synthwave, and dream pop elements.

6. The Mars Volta has had some phenomenal Latin-infused prog over the past 20+ years. "Meccamputechture", though, just has a special place in my heart. The groove on this one, plus the voodoo/occult vibe of the lyrics, really hooked me.

5. "Tightly Wound" by The Pineapple Thief, from the album Tightly Unwound (2008). This band was a really good discovery-- progressive rock with a mellower aesthetic. In my view, their sound on this album sort of falls somewhere between Porcupine Tree and Radiohead.

3. In addition to prog, I love industrial, too. Nine Inch Nails' The Fragile (1999) is another one of my favorite albums of all time. While Trent has composed a decent number of harder-edged rock tracks, I love "Even Deeper" for its chill, resigned vibe.

"Rosetta Stoned" is my highlight from 10,000 Days (2006). If you're not familiar, it's the ramblings of a guy on LSD, convinced that he encountered aliens in the Nevada desert.
