I've been watching 40K in 40 Minutes by Play On Tabletop. It's a non-overwhelming way to watch games being played and to slowly start to understand the rules of the game.
I used to listen to the original Dawn of War soundtracks, some of those "epic music mixes" that are three hours long on YT, or the band Tycho. Mainly just things without lyrics so I can focus all of my attention on what I'm doing with the ambient noise in the background
I’m seeing a lot of recommendations for Adeptus ridiculous which I’m just checking out myself and having a good time with
But I’d also like to recommend the Baldermort YouTube channel. He has a very soothing voice and accent as he tells dramatic Warhammer stories
Poorhammer and adaptus ridicules is some of the main ones on youtube to listen too
But also since you are a guard player (last time I checked) you should definitely listen to gaunt's ghosts and commissar cain on audiobooks (former for the cool still latter for the funny stuff)
Might just be an autistic thing but ive recently been listening to this on loop for hours. I really like the song and the quality of the lip synch animation is just kind of mesmerising ^_^
I've actually been listening to the first one with a friend while we paint on a call together -- he streams it for me over discord and we both listen. I've really been enjoying it! ^^
Highly recommend the Gotrek & Felix series for fantasy warhammer amazingness and hilarity, and the Nightlords trilogy for incredible chaos survivor 40k action, Infinite and the Divine or Brutal Kunnin for the two funniest 40k books.
That’s a fair point, but it does enable the Ork way of makin Shootas. Just have fun with it! Stick pointy bits on here and then a big old engine to make it fully automatic for more dakka there, maybe some bombs underneath it to make the dakka explosive, and cover it all in red paint.
For background noise in form of documentary, I've been listening to Oculus Imperia for WH40K fluff. Otherwise, Drachinifel is really good for historical naval recounting.
For more comedy, Oversimplified and Bluejay have some good recounting of historical stuff with a humor focus.
Gaunts ghosts is still my favorite Warhammer series. The forges of mars trilogy is a bit newer and also good. Pretty much anything by Dan Abnett is an easy recommendation.
If podcasts are more your thing Play Watch Listen is a great nerdy podcast, supposedly about video games, but in reality it's about whatever took their fancy.
If you haven't heard the two Realmslayer audio dramas they have my hearty recommendation, both because the legendary Gotrek Gurnison returns to the Mortal Realms and because he's voiced by BRIAN BLESSED.
Warhammer related: The Infinite and the Devine, and Twice Dead King (necron lore)
Non-Warhammer: really any 60+min ARG or Analog Horror videos, a personal favorite being "Explaining 'This House Has People in it'" by Nightmind. Its about ~90mins

But Lucas the Trickster is probably my favorite - absolutely a masterpiece imo.

If you're after music, the Dawn of War II soundtrack would probably be my pick for 40K background sound. It's really good!
