I absolutely adore the NGV here in Melbourne. We currently have the Kusama exhibition showing and if that doesn’t give you a dopamine rush, nothing will!!
Amazing! Awhile back an exhibit from Australia's aboriginal peoples came to the Fine Arts Museum of Nevada near my home, and it was very unlike anything I've seen. These were spirit poles from various tribes & they had a wonderful abstract quality & showed sophisticated & strong design.
Were they like these? These are by the indigenous artist Dhambit Mununggurr as part of an exhibition called “Can We All Have a Hapoy Life”. I saw them at the NGV back in 2019 I think
Yes, much like those, but of whitewashed earthen clay, often pointed at the top end, covered in runes or heiroglyphics (sp?). Spending time among them I felt great connection & calm.
Same, the indigenous peoples here have no written language per se but many symbols and patterns. Almost all their symbolism comes from the native flora and fauna we have here and their dreamtime stories. I have these indigenous paintings in my bedroom and I love them
The last time I was at the Met I spent like four hours just on crazy Jesus paintings alone then stared at Tibetan mandalas until my brain started to melt and a security guard complimented my Polvo shirt and showed me his Polvo tattoo. 10/10 would Met again.

I want to visit New York again JUST to go to the Met 😩
