I would too, but this is talking to the cloudflare API to set the RR.

Cloudflare accepts the data and has a caution symbol on those records saying it will wrap them when serving to clients.

The CF API docs don’t specify “ requirements.

So more testing, but it’s a somewhat interesting “feature”.

CF truncates " when I do a zone import too, so it must be something they do. I'd have to review the RFC to see if that's okay or not.

When I looked at the RFCs today I walked away with the basic understanding that from server to client quotes were technically only required if there was a space or if following a later standard for storing data sets in TXT.

I cut my teeth on DNS in the 90s & I think I have always seen replies in “”
