Historically, radical crazies have been kept somewhat in check by the fact that their children would have to inherit whatever world their actions created. We really underestimated how deep the "fuck them kids" ethos runs in the boomer generation.

Indeed. I was willing to cede being a bully was maybe not a popular value, but I maintain kicking righteous ass has been part of the American Identity since 1776. How righteous any of that actual ass kicking really was is totally open to debate, but we love deluding ourselves into being the hero
