It's so monumentally depressing, Adam. My family was in fact called Rosenberg until my grandad decided that might leave them vulnerable to discrimination...now I understand why.

I've somehow managed to get through like so far without being a direct victim of antisemitism (if you exclude indirect events like false bomb threats at my primary school), but it does make you wonder just how much anti-Jewish racism goes on outside of our earshot.
I think that's one of the main reasons it feels so bad. Seeing behind the curtain: what some people really think, are happy to say, and think will be acceptable to their audience.

I’ve reached my 8th decade without ever being able to understand why people can’t be judged by their character, rather than by their skin colour, nationality, religion, gender or the gender of their sexual partner.
I’ll go to my grave still wondering….
