It is impossible not to conclude that Britain is a deeply xenophobic society. Both major parties are falling over themselves trying to demonstrate who can be nastiest towards some of the most vulnerable people on earth. And yet people vote for them again and again. And then there is Brexit. Face it.

This can only be even remotely justifiable if legal routes and provisions are made to apply for asylum in the UK and elsewhere. Otherwise, Labour just rebranded themselves as the Trump wing of the Reform Company.

👉This "guidance" comes after the labour government unveiled a draft law to strengthen border security and repeal various elements of its predecessor’s migration and asylum policies.

❗Measures in the draft law are said to be “inspired by the approach taken to counter terrorism"

Some of the measures introduced are:
👉allow border officials to seize people’s phones
👉 treat people smugglers like terrorists
👉creates a new crime of endangering another person during crossings
