Yeah, this is something I ruminate on with abuse in general too. We have this idea that abusers are using tactics deliberately, when a lot of the time they're employed strategically, but in ways the abuser doesn't acknowledge to themselves as a strategy. It's just how they learned to get their way.

Yeah! It's a dynamic that's really hard to reconcile when you've been targeted by it, but very very few people are okay with knowing they're doing harm to people. There's always a justification. We weave that into the narrative of deliberate action, but they often just don't want to believe it.

there are ppl who are knowingly looking to commit what they know to be sex crimes and regardless of someone's reasoning doesn't make it "better" or less traumatic

but its important to note that there are A LOT of ppl who have committed rape who genuinely dont think they have even after being told

that is WAY more prevalent and WAY more sinister. also its a direct byproduct of rape culture thats so normalized a lot of the toxic reasoning that men use to justify their actions (she came on to me, look how she's dressed, she invited me over, etc)

the first person who raped me was a cis woman. after moving to Portland the first trans woman i met sexually assaulted me.

men dont own a copyright on sexual violence.
