I might have an answer - evidently most British refrigerators & freezers are tiny compared to ours. still doesn't explain the burrito thing, but looking at this was... illuminating

Actually the true crime of British fridges is we have to share them with 4 other adult people in an HMO so get a shelf each and no space for individual milk in the door
