The Pebble smartwatch team shares all of the ways Apple limits non-Apple smartwatches on the iPhone.
Your smartwatch can’t send texts, respond to notifications or talk to iOS apps unless it’s an Apple Watch. No one is allowed to build a device that connects to an iPhone as well as an Apple device.

Yeah
Imagine the injustice.
This is The Apple Business Model (TM probably)
it's overpriced garbage.
Apple has no original products these days. And their products frankly are horrible, locked down, and over priced.
And tell me, who doesn’t like a cheaper piece of tech? That way when you upgrade it isn’t as much
And you a creative?
Alright. 👍🏽
My Android phone works seamlessly with my Windows PCs.
It's the 21st Century.
If you don’t beat them on cost and quality, then you need to beat them at something.
Hype? Exclusivity of product?
Or maybe some good ole fashion technological innovation.
To differentiate themselves from competition, they made an environment where your devices will seamless work together.
Well now they have the market, why make improvements? People gonna keep buying meh products because it’s easy.
Purged and forgotten.
No Kings
No monopolies.
Old joke:
Q. How many apple engineers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. None. Apple just defined darkness as the new standard.
I get that it's a bit slicker than Android, but really, is it worth it?
Yes, I used Apple for a few years, but the kind of "you're stuck with us now! Muhahaha!" attitude really put me off.
they CHOOSE to FORCE you and you say THANK YOU DADDY
It is NOT for superusers. That’s always been the point.
The fact that some folks who happen to be superusers also have Apple is merely a coincidence. Nothing more.
this is news???
it's their entire history and they cult market
it's followers
apple is the biggest con in history
apple will continue
I've been wrong about lots of things and I will probably continue the trend
Crapapple.
The Apple ecosystem is pretty obnoxious though, to put it mildly.
But I don’t see the Pebble doing well in general, given the much more mature and feature-rich smartwatch market.
A supposed 30 day battery life won’t solely make this a big seller.
