All the conventional pop songs have aged well: Stand, Sidewinder, Everybody Hurts, and yes, Shiny Happy People. The disdain that they receive(d) stems from the lamentable strain within the rock world that links authenticity with masculine aggression.

I dunno, at the time, to me what registered as "authentic" about them was the (feminine) jangly Rickenbacker of the first five albums, not the macho Les Paul crunch of Green.
