Is Mac McClung such a terrible basketball player that he can't be the last person on a roster?

Or is it that a 3x Slam Dunk Champion would be "too much of a distraction" for a team that isn't winning, isn't drawing attendance, isn't relevant, and doesn't even garner 'social media buzz'?
