I know a lot of people love Spotify but I feel like at some point you gotta dump the Joe Rogan network and find another streaming option. The Spotify wrap-up posts probably aren’t gonna be so cute this year.

I switched to Apple Music years ago when Spotify gave Rogan all that money. I know people love to hate on Apple but it’s legitimately a better service.
He’s worth that money due to the size of his platform. Just because he’s extremely disagreeable and pretentious doesn’t mean he should be deplatformed or that a platform that supports him is inherently bad. That’s not free speech
I’ve gone back to mp3s and CDs (which artist still make more from IIRC) which I know isn’t for everyone but I’m actually happy with it. Everything plays mp3s including your phone.
Spotify is a cancer of a company. I've had to cancel credit cards because these cunts wouldn't cancel their 'service'. Fuck Spotify and everyone that uses it.
Spotify not paying artists fairly, refusing to pay small artists who need the money, and then paying and platforming Rogan's petty little hate machine podcast is more than enough to dump Spotify in favor of anything else.
I love music, but I won't even reskeet someone's post if it's a Spotify link.
Not to mention they’re owned by RWNJ’s! Candace Owen’s husband is one of them!!! Why do people keep giving their money to these arseholes & keep them in business?!!! Spotify in Canada is equivalent to Musk in the US - two peas in a pod! 🤪🤦🏽♀️
also, as we all know, spotify does NOT compensate artists fairly.
It unfortunately takes effort but folks must move, en masse, to other options — including bandcamp
I moved to YouTube music a few years back simply because about 1/3rd of what I wanted to listen to was region locked on Spotify and the only thing that has bothered me was missing the social experience of Wrapped.
Also the shuffle on there is AWFUL and kept ignoring huge chunks of my playlists.
I really think that peertube could be revolutionary, but there isn't much content being put on it. For instance I watch a lot of fuwamoco from hololive on youtube - and chances are they are not leaving youtube any time soon
I dunno man I still think consumer choice matters a little bit, which you’re already seeing with people dumping Tesla and Twitter. Tidal and Apple Music pay artists more than Spotify so to me that’s an easy switch. Harder but better is paying directly to artists on bandcamp but baby steps ya know.
I get better recommendations on Tidal compared to Spotify.

Spotify is a shitty company. I was there since beta.
One day I couldn’t log in.
After a long email conversation with their support, apparently there had been some suspicious activity.
The only downsides to tidal are the integrations with android aren't great (Google play 'celine dion' won't find tidal) and sending people playlists they will be like "oh I don't have tidal"
Not to mention Spotify will pull tracks down for simply getting streams. They use AI to find "artificial streams" and even when you provide them with evidence they still refuse to resolve. I have a deep hatred for that company now.
I would love to be on another service, unfortunately I'm not sure about the alternatives.
Google is bad both in terms of the company and the music app.
Apple is slightly better in both terms.
I haven't tried Deezer and Tidal, but seems they are behind in terms of UX
And also... Spotify is the only one that actually integrates with lastfm. Deezer has integration but seems like it's spotty at best. And it doesn't work with Google Home voice commands

If you're more ambitious, you can host your own collection (legal or otherwise) on Plex and use the PlexAmp app for streaming.

No Spotify, Facebook, X, or Amazon for me…ever

They do have his comedy albums, so it's not like they boycotted him :/ https://tidal.com/browse/artist/14088
