The thing they don’t tell you about the trainer for a regular bike is that they are kind of loud depending on the tires you have and take up a larger footprint than a stationary bike

The on-wheel ones are, but the ones that replace the whole back wheel aren't very loud at all. Like the wahoo kickr core. Plus they are more accurate than the on wheel ones.
Sure, but then you have to take your back wheel off which doesn’t seem very convenient? I get this is a great solution for a cycling enthusiast, but for at-home fitness equipment a stationary has been a better solution (for me at least)
Any decent quality bike nowadays is going to be thru axle or at least quick release. So switching the wheel to and from the trainer should only take about a minute. Personally what I do is leave it on the trainer in the winter and ride outside the rest of the year. So I'm hardly ever switching it.
