Just listened, I think my main thought is that it's a language issue. Rather than 'banned', maybe we should have a 'restricted' Commander list--puts more power/decision-making on the pod, without totally consigning unpopular cards to the eternal shoebox

With as many tutors as there are nowadays, making something just "banned as commander" but legal in the 99 wouldn't really help. That is my opinion of course.

I think the main thing is that some cards are strong on their own, but BROKEN if they can be played over and over again all game long. And tutoring them only means that you spent a card to find it, the mana to play it, and then it gets exiled or countered potentially never to be seen again.

I think you're grossly overstating how many commanders would end up banned. They haven't been a problem yet, despite whatever 'bucket' they fall into, and would be fine to leave unbanned. Would more people call for their banning as a commander maybe, but that doesn't mean they should be.

Banned as a commander was made a thing for the wrong reasons and has only attributed to the removal of perfectly safe cards to play in the 99.

Yours and Josh's analysis was spot on. Hard agree with everything you said, specifically Rofellos and Lutri.

Unfun / miserable to play against, IE The Braids Reason... could we maybe apply that to Maha, It's Feathers Night as Well? This card is abysmal in the command zone. :(
