I should say some of the magic happening here is from the subsurface shading in blenders default shader - it looks nice without it but is feels so much more tangible with it.

Gosh I honestly have no idea, I’m not traditionally a 3d artist, I just sort of have a burning itch to keep going haha I think maybe because I’ve done a few professionally this year and it didn’t go horribly I feel a bit more confident than normal? If that makes sense?

Also honestly, having people engage with it online has kept me pretty engaged, I quite like treating social media as a bit of an endorphin loop - possibly not the healthiest approach but I do like sharing the progress and getting little bits of feedback along the way haha

So much better unwrapping to actual textures than a grid! I think maybe I should separate the individual strips of the hair maybe? so I can break up the volumes a bit better? We'll see if I can be bothered! but really liking the look of this so far!

gotta say the edge peel unwrap on tex tools for blender is excellent, I think I have constructed most of my hair cards wrong because I welded the verts at the ends of most of the tubes but when I have one of them that is very pipe-y its magic. a note for next time, hair should be more pipe-y 🗒️✏️
