The problem is the lack of medical infrastructure to reach a majority of the population. They have all the vaccines they can use but the problems are more complex than that. A development focus on building an economy and state capacity rather than delivering freebies would fix this.
The Congo is just one of many remote or impoverished areas without access to medical infrastructure that many Westerners take for granted. We've lived in places where these outbreaks happen and it's scary/sad. 😢https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/latest/why-measles-remains-mass-killer-dr-congo
Thanks. I'm not surprised by the logistical nightmare - I grew up overseas as a military brat and saw these challenges. Just wanted to be assuaged that it isn't a matter of availability of the product.
Yeah. It's a sad situation in places where basic medications are simply NOT available. (antibiotics, vaccines, asthma meds, even safe baby formula... or, you know, just food and clean water). It's people in the US/UK who reject vaccines for their kids who need to be slapped. Hard.
Many sources say they ARE trying to get everyone vaccinated, but logistics to getting to people are resulting in cycles of epidemics every couple of years.
I would tactfully suggest that if parents in the Congo had easier access to the measles vaccine they would grab it up in a heartbeat. The sarcasm and disdain needs to be aimed at people in the US/EU who have access (often free) and deliberately reject proven science.

But, yet again, there’s no profit in it.
