I was just thinking about this today. Social media is moving past being a rage machine & into a new mode where it functions on power. Power is purchased on the platform & the platform itself also buys power.

It's taken our worst emotional impulses & feeding it back to us as Authoritarianism

The challenge is that the far right and the far left are peopled by conspiracy minded folks. They will switch directions per Kristol when their conspiracy brain is triggered. Everyone else is essentially normal. They see something and think about it. Not sure social media totally works on them
