It's awesome if you never work with any other human beings and love having to figure out basic shit that has been solved for decades - but it will run fast

this is a hobby laptop that i use for browsing the internet and practicing coding. works great for my purposes, and the only issues i've had with ubuntu so far is a lack of drivers for some components (which is more the fault of manufacturers at this point).
It does not. Stop it. Again, if you don't work with others it isn't the "same stuff". Same with WPS Office. If you work solo - it's fine. The minute you need to collaborate - the pain is real
Just looked it up. Collaborative editing (as in realtime document editing over the internet) is in the works but you're right that part isn't ready yet, it works in the online version for whatever that's worth.
Still I'd argue that's a fairly niche use case, obviously if you rely on it +
And most beginner distros preinstall it, or at the very least have it as an option in the installer (Ubuntu and Manjaro do this, I'd argue Manjaro isn't a beginner distro but it's treated like one so eh)

But I do agree it is better than I have it credit for
LibreOffice exists and does effectively the same stuff, I think some schools in Germany(???) even use LibreOffice

Doing some digging an office suite called OnlyOffice has it implemented and also is compatible with all the MS office stuff so I'd give that a looksie
