Freedom to live you life as who you are is not too much to ask. Today, members passed our new policy to strengthen the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and support them as in living their lives freely.

This is obviously good news you take this stance as a party.
But in the meantime, Streeting and Labour is taking away the rights of trans people at every opportunity, the most recent example of implementing the Sullivan review immediately, who is an anti trans author and urgently needs pushback.
I read the full policy document; Sections 6 & 7 cover healthcare & conversion practices in-depth & look quite good on face value. The party policy is now explicitly Self-ID, informed consent, fix waitlists, and ban conversion therapy, which means their MPs can be whipped or removed for disagreement
I both voted and campaigned for Lib Dem. What assumptions are you making here?
Identity politics are important, but humanism and subjectivity more so.
Identity politics & dubious allegiances screwed the Dems in the U.S. I want to see the Lib Dems go bigger picture as would-be party of country
I haven’t made any assumptions? I’m stating the fact “identity politics” didn’t harm dems.
I’ve campaigned for both. Here’s a good piece on it with more details which demonstrates this trap that the right want us to fall into. Being scared of doing what’s needed
I was literally running a session with one of Kamala’s advisors two weeks ago. It’s not true and this idea puts true progress at risk. Additionally to this, we’ve just won over our target amount of MPs staying firm on trans rights, so it’s not applying to our own substantive gains in any case.
Our policy includes:
🏳️🌈 Better support for LGBTQ+ survivors
👊🏻 Ending anti-LGBTQ+ abuse in social care
⚖️ Banning unnecessary, non-consensual treatments
🤰🏻Fair NHS fertility access
📋 A new LGBTQ+ Action Plan for real change

#FascistTrump
After the Natalie Bird fiasco etc, it's good to see the party membership taking a clear and public stand for trans rights.
We are a Liberal party, and trans rights must be part of a Liberal view.
Also, holding the Government to account over the banning of all forms of conversion therapy.
Take the lessons they missed - focus on the broader haves vs have nots.
You have a big chance now to be a serious opposition.
We don’t put party before people like Labour and conservatives. Our policy is to boost our country, not play cowardly 4d chess with it.
But mainly, that’s not why dems did badly. They went to the right in 2024.

You are stating an opinion - a hypothesis - not a fact. As is the Guardian. As am I.
