i didn't appreciate it fully the first time around, but he really managed to capture the spirit of the weimar era so well and the descent into fascism the cabaret goes through.. i think isherwood would've really liked that performance if he saw it
i love how subtle it is and you only really grasp the magnitude of it at the end and how every production has its own little twist. that's what makes cabaret so so interesting to me. i have never seen it live but i'm genuinely debating going to see it in london...
