Ok, so I really enjoy hand shading with Crocotile's Vertex color tool. While this lighting/shadow that I've done is mostly nonsensical (where is the sun? xD), it does add nice depth to the otherwise very flat image.

I shall definitely be exploring this utility when I am working on proper projects.
