I agree that there might be some deadwood within the public workforce. But it requires a smart approach, checks and balances before letting some workers go. There is no way Americans should accept and support the savage approach being taken by Trump the Clown and his boss Elon Musk. #impeachTrumpNOW

I think most people would say family or community is “the essential backbone of society.” A good working government is a key part of a well run society but not “the” answer. Many in the country are demanding a change to the status quo. Trump is an abhorrent model of change but Harris offered little.

Government workers are great and I think we need a bigger (universal healthcare) and better government focused on helping the poor and working class. But, if you are describing the center of society it shouldn’t be the bureaucracy. Society and culture shouldn’t be centered on the government.

They successfully turned "public servant" into a disparagement. It brings forth images of useless bureaucrats, long lines at the DMV, absurd redundancies. Corrupt cops and the like. That is also includes the entire VA, Parks, CDC, air traffic, is lost on them at this point.
