I know what you mean here, but, to be fair, with the gameplay loop serving hard "one more game syndrome", "bite-sized" can become... much longer than one would expect
Balatro is legit fun.
It's one of those games that really makes you reconsider 'basic card games' like Poker.
The Jokers that mess with your scoring and play style is the heart of it, and you just assemble them like builds or even Magic Decks thinking "If this hits, I'm getting SO MANY POINTS!"
I really enjoy it! I love that the rules are very simple (play poker hands to score points) and everything else you do is about bending, breaking or enhancing those rules to your advantage.
If you have the brain bug that lights up from cool effect synergies in roguelikes, and strategizing around short term earnings vs long term scaling, it's for you.
