The peak of HA in the lung coincides with the peak of the #type2immune response - which we know to be essential for effective #repair of the tissue damage caused by the parasite πͺ±
Mice that lack #IL-13 have a reduced type-2 response and we found they have less #HA at day 7 post infection... But IL-13 deficient mice have more tissue damage - highlighting an important IL-13-HA-tissue repair pathway that were investigating further π
Parasite models have taught us so much about how the immune response is regulated - we think they can also teach us a lot about immune-mediated matrix formation and it's roles in effective (or not!) tissue repair
