there's a lot of AI slop in the latest steam next fest, but thanks to recent algorithm changes, you should already be seeing less of it. the bigger problem, as ever, is that there are too many *good* games constantly coming out on steam

You know, it's really frustrating to see that several of these pretend to be simulators of various trades, because that's honestly not a bad idea as an educational tool. It'd be a lot easier and cheaper to learn how to do woodworking or fix a car using a simulation, at least as a starting point.
Yep, been saying for a long time that, yeah, there's a lot of trash, but it's in proportion to the number of quality games.
There are hundreds of fantastic games that don't get anywhere near enough time in the spotlight every year. Just finding the time to play ANY of them is nigh impossible.
That said, the whole wishlist boom or bust thing with them cutting off air to the lower end is.. sorta worrying considering how many wishlist sellers attempted to contact us.
I'm also curious what you mean by wishlist sellers! Wondering if we are experiencing the same thing. We have gotten a lot of messages via discord from accounts who start by asking about the game but always end up trying to get us to sign up for something to "help" us get more wishlists.
if you appreciate this kind of reporting, consider subscribing to @aftermath.site. we're building a publication that lets writers and reporters dig into what's actually happening – not just what seems to be. subscribers make that possible, and every single one counts
also, this should go without saying, but you'll never see even an ounce of AI slop on our site! none! aftermath is a publication for and by people, not robots that can't even plagiarize correctly half the time
