Same with more Canadian media being taken over by right wing American hedge funds like National Post which is buying up smaller paper groups and firing cartoonists.
Which countries in the world are conservative? According to Business Insider, Yemen, Mali, Iran, Pakistan and Chad are the world's most conservative countries based on freedom of the press, equality of genders, and tolerance of various religions.
Sure, but that 'security' is an illusion and she'll bounce (or pivot) and as successful as she's been, will have some ground to stand on while reorienting. Salaries are almost always inequitable in my experience (unless you're the CEO).
My hope & prayer for all editorial cartoonists is that they can become successful as independent freelancers, selling their creations to the highest bidder. The future would be a little bit dimmer without their cutting-edge wit, sarcasm, and humor. Let’s not supplant them with AI-created memes.
No worries. The resistance can start it's own news system and employ these people. We've got the know-how & if Kamala was able to raise an unbelievable amount in such a short time then the money is there. We just have to stop cowering and get going.
Very courageous of her. She is a dying breed. An artist that uses her skills to convey political messages of abuse of power. Many artists fail to use their talents to critique our political economic system.
I’m surprised Bill Bramhall still has an editorial cartoonist position with the NY Daily News, given the state of the industry and who owns the paper (Alden Global Capital).
She should start her own publication — I’ve since unsubscribed from WAPO, WS Journal, NYT, “X”, and would be happy to take my money elsewhere, to more ethical (and honest) publications… 🤗
What I like the most about her cartoon and sets it apart from many out there is that it does not spoon feed the viewer. There is no "MEDIA CEOS" and "TRUMP" lettering to be seen. Finally, something with "No Labels" that isn't vapid and embarrassingly dumb.
What Ann did was courageous. It made a statement, as she took a stand. It would make me feel better if more folks employed in journalism did the same when an editor spiked a story, did a catch-and-kill, or imposed a blanket 'we-don't-report' order. Alas, after decades of experience, cowardice rules.
How do we get her and any other truly brave journalists (and yes I think of her as a journalist) onto platforms like Pateron so we can support her without supporting the now near worthless Bezos vanity project WaPo?
I agree. But as they say, it’s better to die standing than to live on your knees!! This was the first time they tried to censor her, but if allowed it would only get worse. Bravo to Telnaes, we all have to stand up to the oppressors, otherwise we’re all f*cked!
Absolutely agree. I'm in awe and inspired by her courage and absolutely depressed over the circumstances. Everything happening is like living through a history book detailing the fall of the United States as a representative democracy and republic. Down to media all bending the knee. Christ.

I am doing one cartoon a day here.
I have no idea how to monotize this.
