A big reason Democracy Forward has been so adept at countering Trump in court is because it spent the last 18 months meticulously gaming out legal strategies for responding to policies laid out in Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation's 900-page far-right policy blueprint for a 2nd Trump presidency:

My takeaway has been that the majority of Democrats never believed any of the “democracy is under threat” stuff they kept saying and it was nothing more than political rhetoric they co-opted to try to win an election.

They made Republicans worse because they were right-wing extremists. The point isn’t finding Democrats who support far-right policies. It is challenging the status quo in Democratic primaries and replacing them with Democrats who fit the moment we are facing instead of a bunch of feckless cowards.
