Is it me or are companies not hiring for intermediate software dev positions? I swear every listing I see is either minimal pay hiring-just-out-of-school entry level or senior/staff with nothing in between.

Found myself in a pretty awkward spot like that too last year. For the mid-level spots that I did find, I was comparatively professionally inexperienced and I'm more of a generalist than most positions warrant, so I had no luck.
I have been operating at senior/staff levels for a while but when I recieve feedback like "we're looking for more senior devs" I'm like, "ok what do I do with that?" Is 15 years of experience not adequate? What non-existant position should I be applying for?
