Over the past week, wind power has produced 40% of the UK's electricity supply, Double the output of gas (which remains a versatile backup source) and almost four times that of nuclear (a steady ~4.5 GW) without emitting a single gram of carbon.

Then why has agile not dropped lower during these periods? We rode out some insane 99p rates, was looking forward to the wind bringing in some negative pricing but mostly its been close to the standard cap.
Electricity still linked to the gas price, even if just a few percent of gas needed to generate electricity. Gas power plants charging v high rates.
Some nuclear under maintenance too.

But yeah industrial storage would help the grid. A lot of energy must get wasted.
