Thinking about playing FF13 this year at some point. I’ve put it off forever as I’ve heard a wide variety of not so great things about it over the years, but more and more now I try to form my own opinions towards stuff like this. That and I could use some more FF music in my life. - ThreadSky

So I played it very recently. And I was amongst those naysayers that it's the worst thing ever when I first played it. But this time? I enjoyed myself plenty. Nothing amazing. But in my honest opinion, not deserving the horrible treatment it gets. I hope you find something to enjoy from your time.

The game is overhated. I think my biggest issue with it was the weapon crafting system, capping your stats until certain points in the game, and a lack of places to grind, especially for money which is pretty hard to get in 13-1.

The FF XIII trilogy is so good.

The hate was really unjustified.

I always heard not great things as well, however last year I decided to try it myself.

Ended up playing through the whole trilogy and I really enjoyed myself, the presentation is top-notch to this day!

If playing through Steam, be aware that you do need some light modding to improve stability.
